Examples of Initiatives

Conducting the Truck and Forklift Skills Contest

To prevent occupational accidents and product-related accidents through the improvement of truck and forklift operation skills, the Japan Logistic Systems Group holds its Truck and Forklift Skills Contest once a year. Entrants in the truck portion are selected on the basis of criteria including the results of everyday safe driving check-ups. Every year over 100 truck and forklift operators participate in this established annual event, pitting their skills against each other in uniquely devised matches.

In addition to Japan Logistic Systems (11 sales offices), the Group companies Hanshin Logistic Systems (2 sales offices), Logitem Transport, and Sumiya Transport have received recognition as workplaces with exemplary safety. Achieving this recognition involves evaluation of the company’s accident and violation record, safety initiatives, and compliance with safety-related laws and regulations, with the requirement that these meet a given standard.

1 G-Mark: Issued by the Japan Trucking Association, an organization engaged in work to optimize cargo truck transport nationwide, this symbol mark certifies companies that display exemplary safety, based upon fair evaluation by the Association. (The “G” in the name stands for “good” and “glory.”)

Promotion of safe driving through safety recorders

In August 2005, Japan Logistic Systems installed safety recorders in its vehicles nationwide to promote safe and environmentally conscious driving. The safety recorders track the number of occurrences of sudden braking, stops, turns, and acceleration, along with the degree and location of the incidents. Safe driving is evaluated with a numerical score. Based on this evaluation and the results of analyzing braking and handling, operation managers at each sales office provide instruction to drivers with the aim of achieving safe and environmentally conscious driving.
